No single line of sight from user behavior to product decisions. One team shipped features. Another refined prompt. A third monitored latency. This approach forces clarity. It limits internal narrative-building. And it creates a direct economic link between learning and burn.

How long does it take, on average, to shut down initiatives that don't generate clear user pull?

This metric reflects how effectively the team responds to negative or inconclusive feedback. If a product direction lacks adoption, repeat usage, or strong engagement, how long before it's formally stopped, removed from the roadmap, and de-staffed?

A healthy time-to-kill in early-stage environments is 2–3 weeks. If weak bets linger beyond a quarter, the team is accumulating drag.

2. Percent of Roadmap with Defined Exit Conditions

What portion of current initiatives includes pre-agreed criteria for when to stop?

It is a structural indicator. If most projects only have success metrics, but no kill thresholds, there's no mechanism to protect focus or reduce waste. Exit conditions must be binary, time-bound, and tied to user behavior (e.g., "Pause if fewer than 20% of users return organically within 7 days").
